The Chef's Table

Experience Name

Last January I was again invited to inspect one of the three Viking Cruise ships calling on Auckland that month, I love and promote the ambiance, the Scandinavian style and facilities.
I was fortunate to invite some clients for dinner at The Chefs Table Restaurant. We all agreed we were rewarded with  a delicious meal with some very clean but intense flavours throughout. We started with a vegetarian amuse bouche, a dainty sweet potato chip topped with deliciously light apple and rosemary infused creme fraiche. The starter was a crispy crab cake sandwiched between a bed of avocado and a refreshing coleslaw. After a boozy Moscow Mule granita came the star of the menu, seared halibut served with a delicious herb vinaigrette and cauliflower crumb and decorated with a rocket salad. The dessert was equally as light and refreshing as the rest of the meal, pairing orange and ginger in a delicate parfait.
Matching wines were served throughout the dinner. Many of agreed the best wine served was the Pillastio Primitivo which is a full bodies Italian Wine

Nordic Inspiration

You will encounter Viking Cruises’ Nordic heritage in every space on board. clean lines, warm natural joinery. Leather and colourful woven textiles recall the patterns of early Nordic craftsmen. A clinker-built bar pays tribute to the Viking longships of yesteryear, the Explorer Lounge is a display of cozy pelts, Turkish marble, natural Swedish limestone and fragrant juniper wood abounds in the LivNordic Spa.
